Kim McCoy

Kim McCoy is a speech-language pathologist and solo parent. She taught English in Europe, Asia and the Middle East before returning to school for her masters degree is speech-language pathology. She has an eclectic work history in direct, clinical and administrative roles in educational and medical settings. Kim’s older child attends the Open School’s virtual program from their home in Oregon. Kim also has a younger child, who stockpiles legos, as well as an elderly chiweenie and a rambunctious Australian kelpie who enjoys running alongside the family cargo bike on morning rides. Kim plays the violin, practices yoga and appreciates meeting new people and making friends of all ages from all walks of life. Autonomy, responsibility and care are core values that inform her parenting, professional work and journey with self-directed learning and growth. She is delighted to join the Open School as part of the virtual admissions team.
